THAILAND: Fatal assault ‘mistaken identity’

KANCHANABURI – A gang of six young men assaulted two other men they wrongly believed were from a rival group, killing one of their victims, police said on Tuesday.

The assault was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras outside a roadside restaurant in Kanchanaburi’s Muang district about 4am on Sunday.

The video shows the attackers repeatedly punching and kicking one of the victims, and hitting him with a stick and garden ornament from nearby. The victim, 19-year-old Kritsada “Earth” Ornnom, had no chance to fight back, and lay motionless on the ground as the thugs left the area.

Kritsada died from his injuries on the way to hospital.
