THAILAND: Tak’s most dangerous road goes red to alert drivers

Tak highway officials have taken a new step in trying to reduce accidents at its infamous “curve of a hundred corpses” by spreading a special bright red colour on the road — the first of its kind in Thailand. The red surfacing was recently applied to a 200-metre-long section of the notorious Asian Highway No.12 (Tak-Mae Sot) in tambon Mae Pa in Mae Sot district just before kilometre marker 17. A number of fatal accidents occur at this curve each month when motorists fail to take the bend.
